How could I achieve the look of a grape arbor for the dining room?

I want to make the dining room look like a grape arbor so that when sitting at the table there will vines and grapes overhead, etc. (plastic ones!) How to install a grid system from which to hang the decorations? It doesn't have to be the WHOLE ceiling, maybe just one corner so as not to be overdone. The existing ceiling is just a normal plaster ceiling.

You could hang a piece of lattice over the table, from the ceiling with chains. I saw them do that on HGTV for hanging pots and pans over an island.Check out their web site,it may help.

Get some of the new plastic lattice panels (they are so lightweight) put some hooks into the ceiling over the table and hand some lightweight chains from them Hang the lattice work from the chains and hook the grapes and vines through the lattice work. A nice touch would be wine bottles holding melted candles. Some wine bottle and cheese (fake) on a buffet in a corner. Go to the dollar store for your grapes and vines to save a bunch of money. P.S, You might try the new Hercules Hooks in the ceiling, don*t know if they would work or not but you could try it.

Easiest way would be to get a cheap wooden trellis or some lathe strips and screw them into the wall and wrap the vines and grapes through that. You can get a half barrell (the wine or whisky barrell) from a gardening store or Wal-mart and put the lathe or trellises and put some gravel on the top to make it look like they are growing out of it. If that seems like too much work, you can find someone who is a really good painter to do a mural of the scene you want on th wall and ceiling.
